IT has been reported that 85% of the executives of Fortune 500 companies and 80% of the United States Presidents since 1900 were members of a Fraternity. Given the statistic mentioned above, it should be quite apparent that joining a fraternity has significant value.
Entering as a freshman into Western Kentucky University with an enrollment of approximately 15,000 students can be exciting but also daunting. Familiar faces, friends and teachers from high school are gone. You soon feel the sense of independence walking from building to building to attend classes, following the schedule you created with the help of an adviser. One will soon realize that the next four years will be a huge period of personal growth and will not just happen in the classrooms, lecture halls or laboratories. The University campus quickly changes successful teenagers into successful young adults.
Fraternities, time and time again, over decades has served as a platform for this personal growth, successful socialization, a sense of belonging and the formation of friendships that will last a lifetime. Yes, it is quite important to success in the academics and obtain the skills you came to the University for in the first place, but it is also important to become that well rounded person that makes a leader, a person of character and a successful businessman no matter what field you chose.
We here, at Alpha Gamma Rho, given the accomplishments of the current Actives and the 55 years of Alumni, believe the fraternity possesses the “right stuff”. We have become veterinaries, elected and appointed officials, bank managers, supply chain mangers in agriculture and businesses, research professors, real estate developers, wall street analysts, accountants and lawyers just to name a few
The fraternity house, for many of us has become our home away from home and through various social activities, fostered bonding with men of similar backgrounds that have lasted long after graduation and still has value. Beyond the University coursework, common interests with men you can trust will serve you well in a readymade network after you graduate.
